On March 14th thousands of Canadians across the country gathered to protest the proposed Bill C-51 anti-terrorism legislation. If passed the bill would give Canada's spy agency CSIS sweeping powers, and many feel the ambiguity of the bill will allow for wide spread abuses of power and serve to silence critics of the Harper government.
In Toronto several thousand protestors gathered outside city hall to hear pomes and speeches from organizers like Green party leader, Elizabeth May. Shortly after 1pm the crowd marched through the streets to the CSIS building on Front Street where the protest and speeches continued.
