I find shooting from the hip tricky with the X100s. Its near impossible to prefocus properly with the autofocus system or manual focus without bringing the camera up to your face and potentially ruining the image you are attempting to make. So I have taken to doing my best to quickly pause, centre my subject and hope I nail the focus in the right area. Probably not something I should admit but I do so hoping another X100s user will have a better way for me to hip shoot and share their expertise.
With this image I got it just right. I liked the way the subject was clutching the wooden African animals, as if they would bolt away should his grip loosen even the slightest.
Its an urban safari.
