Day three brought us out of the Ypres salient and into the Somme valley region. The day began with a trip to a little visited Portuguese cemetery, then onto the wonderful Historial de la Grand Guerre museum in Péronne.
In the pouring rain we visited the Thiepval memorial, Courcelette and Regina trench, where we encountered unexploded munitions. In the evening the conditions were right again for sunset at Vimy and though no where as good as the first time, we got some great photos out of the hasty adventure.
