Hi, I’m Nick, a freelance photojournalist based in Southern Ontario.

Making images has always helped me understand the world around me, so discovering photojournalism and being privileged to document and share stories about what happens in our community of Toronto has been the greatest gift. I got my start in university where I managed the photography department of Wilfrid Laurier University’s award winning independent campus and community newspaper The Cord from 2009 to 2013. At the same time, I worked as a research assistant and photographer at the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies where I photographed European battlefield tours and co-authored two books about Canada at War.

I am a strong visual storyteller with strong interpersonal skills to match, allowing me both to make my subjects comfortable, and to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Since 2020 I have worked consistently as a photojournalist, including a year working as a staff photographer at NOW Toronto, and more recently freelancing for clients including The Toronto Star, Reuters, The Hoser and The Logic.  In this time my skills have grown exponentially, and my work has been recognized with consecutive News Photographer’s Association of Canada (NPAC) awards in 2022 and 2023. I am driven to grow and challenge myself in all forms of editorial photography and videography. Also, I’m a snappy dresser and I have cool tattoos so I show up to any assignment with street cred.
